Dr. Samit Roy, William D. Jordan Professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics, will receive the University of Alabama’s Senior Research Scholar award on April 22, 2024.
The President’s Faculty Research Award, sponsored by the UA president and the vice president for research & economic development, is awarded to outstanding faculty researchers from across UA colleges and schools. The Senior Research Scholar award recognizes individuals who have exhibited a sustained program of excellence as determined by significant contributions to their academic field.
Dr. Roy joined UA in Fall 2005 and is an internationally recognized expert in composites and nanomaterials. His research spans both computational and experimental topics in this area. He holds 2 patents and has authored more than 100 peer reviewed papers that have been cited nearly 6,000 times.
